How Republicans Have Worked to Undermine Democracy in the Past Two Years
Can a single corporation worth more than 1/2 trillion dollars buy a country whose patriots have fought and died to own and maintain its freedom, its democracy and its constitution?…A country whose citizens fly the American flag and whose patriots’ blood has been shed protecting its democracy against dictatorship and terrorism?
If we allow our votes to be purchased and our minds to be brainwashed, and we allow greed to blind us, then yes, our votes and American democracy as we have known it will be bought up like a cheap suit in a bargain basement department store, but it won’t be clothing that will ultimately be on sale…sadly, what will be on sale will be labor, now cheap American labor.
How do we determine what is truth and what is rhetoric? Can there be democracy if the power of money is greater than the power of the vote? Can there be justice if the judicial system has been sold? Can there be freedom and equality for all if democracy and justice have been corrupted?
American blood is being shed and flows freely in the streets of foreign countries whose citizens have never known or experienced democracy. How ironic that our children are recruited and paid to fight and die in order to bring democracy to foreign countries while in the United States, democracy is being attacked from within by the corporate elite whose weapons of choice are lobbyists and money!
There is no “Return Policy” for American freedom and equality once they have been sold. There is not enough money in the world to buy back or return the lives of our American troops who died to protect us against tyranny and treason.
Since oil is the one, true common denominator that countries all over the world go to war over, maybe it is the 1%, the oil Corporate Elite who should be doing the fighting and dying…. after all, it is their oil. Instead, it is the 99% who have been dying for ALL THE WRONG REASONS! Is the war in Afghanistan really a fight for freedom and democracy or is it a fight for the dominance and ownership of oil?
We have become complacent, even closed our eyes, blindly allowing the takeover of our own country by corporate paid lobbyists who fight against the EPA and alternative energy. We have allowed ourselves to become compliant, even go to war under the guise of patriotism when it is really a war fought for oil.
Our Environmental Protection Agency is the target of Big Oil. Day by day Democratic, liberal minded progressive Politicians who promote and defend the EPA are being destroyed and attacked by obstructionism and lies. Lies that are deliberate in nature. Rhetoric that is spewed like poison, rehearsed and spoken word for word by the Oil Corporate Elite. Their money flows like the Oil they so want to protect. They sponsor and fund the campaigns of Republican Politicians whose main objective is to “bring down Obama! Make him a one term President and by any means possible, make his first term his Waterloo”!.
Why is oil so important that some elected politicians are so willing to repeal and change the very amendments, laws and regulations they swore an oath to uphold and protect? They openly and without candor, disrespect the President of the United States.
The Democratic Party believes strongly in environmental protections, stopping global warming and maintaining strict EPA standards. The Oil Corporate Elite have one single goal in their quest for Oil domination: Attack and defeat President Obama and the Democratic Party.. According to Republicans,.they must be stopped from regulating and enforcing the EPA rules, from cutting Oil Corporation Subsidies and most of all, must NOT be allowed to increase corporate taxes by permanently eliminating the Bush Tax Cuts.
The Big Oil Corporations also knew they would have to falsely promote and then destroy their most threatening competitors! Competitors such as clean energy, green energy or any alternative energy that would create serious competition and greatly decrease the need and value of oil.
Wind turbines, solar energy even electric, battery operated cars are the EPA’s biggest weapons against the oil behemoths. They would be factors in America’s dependence on oil to diminish! Just think of it – electric cars would mean no more $4.00 a gallon of gas every day. No more fear of running out of money before running out of gas. Electric and battery operated cars are comparable to the Model T Ford replacing the horse and buggy.
In 2008, if John McCain had won the Presidency, the Big Oil Corporations would have already taken control of our government by allowing the recession to continue. We know that the Auto Industry would have closed down and any hopes for electric cars or alternative energy would never have been allowed to remain.

It is also noteworthy that when Wall Street and the big banks, even AIG, were crashing, the Oil corporations were still selling oil and making record profits. Today, Exxon Mobile is the richest, most profitable Oil corporation in the world. Imagine what would happen to their profits if clean alternative power and energy were successfully competing against them worldwide.
“SOLYNDRA” was promoted and funded by the then-President of the United States, Texas Oil man George Bush, along with his oil rich, Vice President Dick Cheney, the Walton Family, owners of Walmart…along with other wealthy Republican campaign investors. SOLYNDRA would be perceived as a Republican endorsed venture and its inevitable failure would prove to the world that even windmills were a pipedream and a waste of the resources of Government – the money of Tax payers and Investors.
The Oil CEO’s, their paid Lobbyists and Politicians promoted Solyndra. However, Solyndra was doomed for failure from the start! President Bush and his Administration, happily and generously bequeathed Solyndra and its failure to President Obama to deal with.
By holding and televising public Congressional hearings regarding Solyndra’s failure during the Obama Administration, Rep. Issa could cast a suspicious light upon Solyndra and the new President. He purposely initiated investigations that he knew were erroneous. He and his corporate sponsored Republican colleagues accused President Obama of corruption and,misuse of large amounts of Government money, money that was loaned to Solyndra. With the President and the failure of Solyndra on public display and Issa’s Hearings being televised daily on C-Span, the American people could witness and acknowledge just how unattainable and unsustainable anything other than oil would be and at the same time be made to believe their new President was just plain corrupt. A straw corporation and a straw argument.
Unfortunately, the hearings have turned into just another one of Republican Rep. Daryl Issa’s witch hunts.

The Oil corporations can essentially afford to buy up whatever they want and privatize and control our Federal and State Governments, which is already happening.
Take Michigan, for example - Cities like Flint, Benton Harbor, and Pontiac.They are all cities that were taken over by City Managers, appointed by the Corporate sposnsored Republican Governor and Republican Legislators. In these Cities and many others, all elected public Officials were fired and replaced by City Managers who had total authority over City properties. Even city parks and buildings were in jeopardy and could be sold or closed down without notice.

The antidote to all of these Republican-sponsored end runs around the democratic process will be to rid ourselves of those who sponsored and ran them. If alternative clean energy is to replace America’s dependence on oil; if the underlying threat of Republicans trying to take over our cities again with the City Manager system is to be quashed; if voter ID laws are to become a thing of the past, Democrats must make the effort to elect those who will safeguard democracy and move this country forward instead of back. Vote Blue..remember in November!
